Professional basketball player and acclaimed high flyer, DeQuan Jones, saw first hand how many kids struggle to reach their goals each year due to a lack of resources. Following his rookie season with the Orlando Magic, he made it his personal mission to help one family each year by offering to buy a child's school supplies at a local retail store. After helping individual families for two consecutive summers, DeQuan and his wife, Allison, realized that helping just one family per year was not enough and set out to assist children who struggle in school and fail to meet their full potential due to a lack of resources. The JetJones Foundation, Inc., founded by the Joneses in 2015, aims to inspire kids to take flight towards a brighter future by providing the resources that they need to succeed.
In the summer of 2015, DeQuan and Allison Jones hosted the First Annual JetJones Foundation Party for a Purpose in order to collect school supplies that were donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank's Kids In Need Program. Over 405 pounds of school supplies were donated. Last summer, the JetJone Foundation hosted Maintain the Mound, a community clean-up that took place in Randolph Medlock Park to encourage student to start the 2016-2017 school year with a sense of pride in their community. The best is yet to come for the JetJones Foundation and, with your help, today's youth can be provided with the tools that they need to reach their goals.
